Fabric documentation

Fabric is a Python library and command-line tool for streamlining the use of SSH for application deployment or systems administration tasks. It provides a basic suite of operations for executing local or remote shell commands and uploading/downloading files, as well as auxiliary functionality such as prompting the running user for input, or aborting execution. Typical use involves creating a Python module containing one or more functions, then executing them via the fab. Fab -H localhost, linuxbox host type [localhost] run: uname -s [localhost] out: Darwin [linuxbox] run: uname -s [linuxbox] out: Linux Done. Tool, Fabric’s components may be imported into other Python code, providing a Pythonic interface to the SSH protocol suite at a higher level than that provided by e.g.

the Paramiko. This website covers project information for Fabric such as the changelog, contribution guidelines, development roadmap, news/blog, and so forth. Detailed usage and API documentation can be found at our code documentation site, docs. Please see the navigation sidebar to the left to begin.

Web Browser Automation

That’s it! What you do with that power is entirely up to you. Primarily, it is for automating web applications for testing purposes, but is certainly not limited to just that. Boring web-based administration tasks can be automated as well. Selenium has the support of some of the largest browser vendors who have taken steps to make Selenium a native part of their browser.

It is also the core technology in countless other browser automation tools, APIs and frameworks. Scale and distribute scripts across many environments. Then you want to use Selenium WebDriver; a collection of language specific bindings to drive a browser – the way it is meant to be driven. Selenium WebDriver is the successor of Selenium Remote Control which has been officially deprecated. The Selenium Server now also includes built-in grid capabilities.

Selenium IDEIf you want to create quick bug reproduction scripts. Create scripts to aid in automation-aided exploratory testing. Then you want to use Selenium IDE; a Firefox add-on that will do simple record-and-playback of interactions with the browser.
