Automated content: Can algorithms write your content for you?

In his quest, French started learning about AI by attending seminars where he rubbed shoulders with the likes of RAND Corp. and the CIA. They were interested in national surveillance and espionage, he was more concerned with anti-heroes and happily-ever-afters. Artificial intelligence is in vogue, the technology is becoming more affordable, and in 2016, automated content is on the cusp of the mainstream. Creatives, marketing agencies, newspapers and more are watching on with one part interest, one part fear. 

Publications already publishing automated content created by algorithms on a daily basis. To find out more, we have to turn our gaze away from the writing desk, and towards the newsdesk. Only it’s not the Medill School of Journalism any more. Automated Insights now produces more than 3,000 articles a quarter for the likes of Microsoft, Yahoo and of course the Associated Press itself who made history when they hired Justin Myers as the world’s first ‘automation editor’. That’s not to say people couldn’t detect differences: participants found the journalists’ work more pleasant to read and clear. 

On the flip side, they found the bot’s effort to be more trustworthy, accurate and objective. This suggests that long-term, automated content is going to have to get vastly more interesting as well as more personalised, or our collective standards will have to drop considerably. Thanks to the internet of things, data will be available from cars, CCTV, social media, the internet, live video, people’s homes and much more. John Medill argued that independent press represent truth and progress to advance the intellectual, social, and moral welfare of the people, and nowhere is progress represented more than at the very institution that was created in his honour.

Word automation using C#

Programming Language: C#. 2.Word Automation using C#: Word Automation through C# is all about programmatically generating the Word Document using C# code. Almost all of the tasks which we perform on word 2003 can be done programmatically using C# or VB. Tasks like Inserting Table of Contents, Linking documents, Mail Merge, Inserting Documents, Embedding documents, inserting pictures, watermark… etc can all be done programmatically. Let’s consider that we want to create a document using the Word Application, we might end up doing the following steps,. 

The Word.Application and Word.Document are used to Open Word and add a new Document to it. This represents in Word Application without any new document loaded in it. We can otherwise build a word document from scratch. While working on word, we select a range of text by clicking and dragging the mouse pointer across contents in the document to select it. Now we can have a base template which is a word file saved as Document Template file. 

Now for programmatically replacing the Mail Merge fields using the code, the document by default has many fields in it. Contents of a Word documents can also be inserted into the current document from the application by doing the following. When we proceed to create a New Document without using the Base Template, the most useful entity is the inbuilt Bookmark endofdoc. It would be a build-from-scratch approach where the programmer starts of the automation by inserting his first section of contents, then setting the range to point to the endofdoc Bookmark and selecting it and inserting his contents and again selecting the endofdoc which would be pointing to the end of the document which would now be after the two sections.
